Iron Skillet, Black Skillet, Iron Cookware….whatever you wish to call it, this timeless cookware is an integral part of many family kitchens! It moves from the stove top to the oven to the campfire and has for centuries.
I grew up with iron cookware and have collected great recipes that are enjoyed in my kitchen. So, why the blog on cooking on a black skillet? A dear friend suggested that I post cooking videos on a social media page. Indeed, my grandchildren call my kitchen a cooking show, and I love to have them sitting opposite my cooktop. But, video is not in my comfort zone, nor do I wish to get all gussied up to share on a video when I can take time to write down and share my recipes with you in this more comfortable and thoughtful setting.
Who am I? I am the daughter, granddaughter and niece of great southern cooks. My husband is also a great cook! I am an observer of good cooking, and yes, I am a foodie. Other items that call for my attention are my beloved dogs (for whom I cook), my foodie husband, a growing garden, my art studio and inspirational writing. You will surely find mention of all of these things in future posts.
I hope you will come along with me and enjoy this journey with the Iron Maiden. Also, I hope you will take time to comment your experiences with food, iron cookware and share your memories with us.
